I downloaded the complete setup (XRMSetup.ZIP). What am I expected to do now?

XRMSetup.ZIP is a compressed file: please expand it inside a folder, open that folder, locate a file called setup.exe and run it, so that installation procedure starts.

The installation procedure is very fast and easy. All you have to do is confirm the default installation folder or choose another one.

Wait for installation procedure ending, then remember to copy the empty database inside XRM installation folder (or wherever you like).

Now you have to download XRM.ZIP, expand it and put the resulting XRM.EXE in the previously choosed installation folder, overwriting previous version.

Finally, click on START / PROGRAM / RicFreak Soft / XRM / XRM to run the application.   (Back to Top)

I downloaded the executable (XRM.ZIP) file. What am I expected to do now?

XRM.ZIP is a compressed file: please expand it in a folder and open that folder. You will find a file called XRM.EXE.

All you have to do now is copy this file to your original XRM installation folder.

WARNING: if your previous XRM version was 1.0, database fields are changed, and you need to delete your present database and download the new one. But what about your styles and your banks? Well, you have two options:

#1: You don't care about shorter styles name, and you like to keep your database content. So, use database backup option, and save it to a file somewhere in your PC hard disk; then rename your XRM.MDB file to XRMOLD.MDB, download XRMDataBase.zip, unzip it and save it in the same folder where XRMOld.MDB is; finally, run XRM, and restore the database from previously saved backup.

#2: You have all those styles available somewhere in your PC hard disk or floppies or whatever, and will like to have the whole 16 chars name for each style. So rename XRM.MDB to XRMOld.MDB, download XRMDataBase.zip, unzip it and save it in the same folder where XRMOld.MDB is; finally import all your styles again.

In both cases, when the process is over and you have a new XRM.MDB database with everything in its own correct place, you can delete XRMOld.MDB file, 'cause you no more need it. But, unless you are short in disk space, you better leave it there.

You know, never say never ....  (Back to Top)

I downloaded the empty database (XRMDataBase.ZIP file. What am I expected to do now?

XRMDataBase.ZIP is a compressed file: please expand it in a folder and open that folder. You will find a file called XRM.MDB, an empty (without data) copy of XRM database.

You will need this file if you are a first time installer, because complete setup won't install any database file, to avoid unexpected overwriting. And you can use it to start multiple database copies (don't know, XRM1.MDB for KORG Original styles and XRM2.MDB for self made styles, or whatever), switching between them via the Parameter option inside main window.

WARNING: if your previous XRM version was 1.0, database fields are changed, and you need to delete your present database and download the new one. But what about your styles and your banks? Well, you have two options:

#1: You don't care about shorter styles name, and you like to keep your database content.
